Michael Warren Brame
Michael Warren Brame was born on June 23, 1965, in Henderson County, Kentucky, to Charles W. and Peggy J. Nally Brame. He was raised alongside one sister and two brothers and was a member of Altona Baptist Church in Calvert City. Michael was known for his deep dedication to service and his strong family values. He married Lisa Harvey Brame, and together they had one daughter.
Mike Brame enlisted in the Kentucky Army National Guard and served honorably for 16 years and held the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSG) serving as a M1 Abrams Tank System Mechanic in Company C, 2nd Battalion, 123rd Armor (Tank Battalion) in Benton, part of the 149th Armored Brigade. At the time of his death, Brame was stationed at the Unit Training Ewuipment Site (UTES) #2 at the Wendell H. Ford Regional Training Center (WHFRTC) in Greenville, Kentucky, where he was a mechanic serving in a Title 32 Full-Time Military Technician position. His duties included critical maintenance support for training operations, helping ensure the readiness of Kentucky National Guard units.
On February 2, 2001, while returning from duties at the training center, Brame was involved in a serious automobile accident on Kentucky Highway 181 near the Western Kentucky Parkway. After battling his injuries for nearly two weeks, he died on February 15, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System in Owensboro, Daviess County, Kentucky, at the age of 35.
He was laid to rest at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Powderly, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, surrounded by loved ones and fellow servicemembers. His name was added to the Kentucky National Guard Memorial in 2022, a solemn recognition of his faithful service and ultimate sacrifice while performing official duties on behalf of the Commonwealth and the United States.
Staff Sergeant Brame’s legacy is preserved not only through his family and community but also by the comrades and citizens who continue to benefit from his example of service, dedication, and professionalism.
