Orlie Collis Combs

Second Lieutenant Orlie C. Combs was born 7 November 1918, in Lee County, Kentucky. He enlisted as a Private with Company G, 113th Medical Regiment of the Kentucky National Guard on 14 September 1938, at Richmond, Madison County, Kentucky. At the time of enlistment he was living at Pebworth, Owsley County, Kentucky. He was inducted into federal service as a Sergeant serving with Company G, on 17 January 1941.

He died 31 July 1943, at the time of death he was serving with the 133rd Infantry Regiment, 34th Infantry Division. He is buried in the North Africa American Cemetery and Memorial, Carthage, Tunis, Tunisia.

Combs’ name appears as Arlie C. Combs on the Owsley County Veterans Memorial located at the Courthouse in Booneville, Kentucky.
